Square Tide is a passionate musical experiment created by grIMP; one that melds electronic music production with classic 8-bit sounds. It is an attempt to bring grIMP's love for chip music to a broader audience, while still keeping all of the essence and Nostalgia of the beloved 8-bit
consoles.
This album is also a love letter to an era that help shaped grIMP as an artist when he was a kid growing up on those classic bleeps, bloops and square waves.
All of the 8-bit sounds you hear on Square tide are generated on actual home game systems and vintage computers. They have been modified by grIMP and written with custom software for those consoles. Nothing has been sampled from games or retro sound packs.
Enjoy this mix of past and present, and hopefully it will trigger some old memories as well as new ones.
